How did you come up with the ideas?
Paying homage to the Aussie spirit
AussieMates project was founded by NFT enthusiasts siblings Bianca and Adrian from Sydney Australia paying tribute to their home country’s much adored mascot and multicultural population.

Central to our ethos is building a community of mates through our Mates helping Mates program. A program designed to better enrich the lives of community members in all aspects, from health & wellbeing to digital and physical experiences. This is the Australian spirit that mateship embodies.

AussieMates are designed to be your ultimate best mate. The best way to describe it would be: The way we take our pets on adventures, but in this instance your mate is taking you on adventures and empowers collectors to tap into wellbeing experiences (health, travel, music, mentorship) meanwhile charities and small business to tap into blockchain technology to ultimately unlock the power of web3. An experience brand at heart AussieMates will host events, IRL and in the metaverse, celebrating art in all forms covering music, performance art, digital art and more.
Kangaroos are balance, personified
On the kangaroo aesthetic, for us our AussieMates roos are mental health personified. They’re the essence of balance, strength, health and fun. We also wanted to have a bit of fun incorporating distinctly Aussie traits, while celebrating all the cultures that make up Australian culture. We love how kangaroos can only move forward and that’s what we want for our community.

We’re merging physical and digital experiences with our mates, where we’ll use leading technology in the metaverse and AR so your mates can hop around with you in both worlds. Unlocking experiences and rewards the longer you hold your roo.
How Big is the team and what are their roles?
At the moment the team is made up of 5 people and growing fast. We’re scaling quickly and looking to make key hires within to grow our social media & developer teams. Follow us on Linkedin for job ads.
Bianca (@bmuse90) Co-Founder
With a background in advertisin, Bianca is Cofounder at AM8 covering the creative developments of the project including: creative production, community relations, product and communications strategy. She’s passionate about NFT technology and the power it has to evolve industries. Co-founding AussieMates with her brother after seeing the gap in projects successfully merging physical and digital experiences. She enjoys music, sport and performance art outside of work. Adrian (@amusenft) Co-Founder
Adrian is Cofounder at AM8 covering the back end tech of the project; direction of smart contract development, development of art generation, business administration and investor relations. With a background in engineering he has found himself in the audio-visual space, working across a number of different technologies, from project management to coding. He sees the future og NFTs as integrated into day-to-day life. Outside of work, he enjoyed a semi-professional career in rugby union and still enjoys playing the game today. Ryan, General Manager
Ryan is the General Manager at AussieMates. Having previous experience working with startups in wealth management, he understands what needs to be done when it comes to scaling a business for success. A former professional ice hockey player, he has forged a deep understanding for community and the benefits it has for mental and physical wellbeing. His professional sporting background makes him the perfect fit for the AM8 team as they look to grow within this industry.
Vitor, Lead Developer
Vitor is an experienced solidity developer with 15+ years of experience working with Java, Python, PHP & C++. Before making the move into NFTs he was formerly the lead dev for Fortune 500 companies. Looking for more freedom, he turned to blockchain and AI where he has been freelancing for the last few years. He is the lead developer on the AussieMates team with previous experience working on the Happy land Gummy Bears project.
Sarah (@cryptosarebear) CMO advisor
Sarah is our NFT and metaverse CMO leading marketing, PR and partnerships. Over the last year she has launched MYAMI NFT fashion house, layer 2 Immutable, DoinGud social good NFT marketplace, assisted on various Impact Theory NFT drops including Aoki’s, and Sydney’s first physical NFT exhibition Satellite. Democratising the ways people earn through tech and 2-sided marketplaces, has been her life’s work. She’s currently empowering people through blockchain, crypto, NFT marketplaces and DAOs. We want everyone to be able to access an AussieMate
So we intentionally designed the 0.05ETH price point to reward our early supporters with the opportunity to get their AussieMates at an appetising price. We believe it’s accessible for people starting out in NFTs and regular collectors.
Considering the diversity of our artwork, as well as the time and effort spent on creating a project of this size, depth and plans for future growth, we believe our price is quite competitive.

Furthermore, we think the opportunity of flying two lucky Down Under Club members and their mate anywhere in the world (via Golden Cockatoo Trading) on us is pretty cool.
Are there any mechanics we should know about?
Digital Companions
Your AussieMate will be brought to life as your digital and real world companion. Using a combination of 3D modelling, augmented reality and VR technology, you’ll be able to take your digital roo anywhere you want, while they’ll be working in the background to bring you ongoing rewards and access to resources, events and more!
Mates Helping Mates
We’re looking after our mates. Which is why we’ll be developing programs specifically tailored to Down Under Club members. Plus our community will dictate who we donate 50% of our resales to every year. More details here
Adventure On Us
With the introduction of Golden Cockatoo Trading, two lucky Down Under Club members and their mate will be able to fly anywhere in the world, on us. We’ve missed travelling with Australian borders being shut for almost two years, so we’re keen to visit our mates across the pond and we want you to be able to do so as well.
You’ll also receive a 1:1 AussieMate featuring the backdrop of where you land.
Exclusive Access
Having felt the effects of not being allowed out of the house for months on end, we’re looking forward to putting on events that bring our community together. Your NFT will act as your ticket to AussieMates Street Parties, sponsored events and NFT specific summits. We’ll also be partnering with key media outlets to run IRL treasure hunts. While this will also be open to the general public to onboard them into NFTs and increase the value of yours, Down Under Club members will receive exclusive rewards.
Mental Health Resources via LIVIN
Taking care of your mental health isn’t always easy. So that’s why we have partnered with LIVIN, an Australian mental health charity, to provide virtual workshops for our community members along with mental health resources. We have plans to take this partnership even further and building ways in which we can provide access to mental health on a bigger, more affordable scale that is location agnostic.

At the end of the day, we’re people who want to help other people. Which is why we’ve developed a charity donation program. $50,000AUD of the initial drop will be donated to LIVIN a mental health charity in Australia along with 50% of resales every Q1. Our community will decide who we donate to for Q2-Q4, giving us the opportunity to support an additional 3 charities yearly.

AussieMates x LIVIN, mental health non-profit
2nd Dec 21: AussieMates the first NFT project in Australia focused on mental health and wellness experiences pledges $50,000 AUD of launch drop to support mental health non-profit, LIVIN.
Fast approaching their public sale date on 7th January 2022, AussieMates revealed LIVIN as their first charity beneficiary. In turn the partnership allows AussieMates to offer NFT owners, known as Down Under Club members, LIVIN’s virtual mental health workshops, resources, early prevention and intervention initiatives, endorsed by LIVIN’s qualified psychologist.
This includes the successful LIVINWell program, based on the mantra ‘It Ain’t Weak to Speak,’ that breaks down stigma, enhances self-efficacy (both helping themselves and helping others) and encourages help-seeking.
“We don’t want anyone to get left behind. For us our AussieMates roos are mental health personified. They’re the essence of balance, strength, health and fun. We love how kangaroos can only move forward and that’s what we want for our community,” Bianca added.
