What is the Otherside?

The Otherside is going to be the premiere metaverse in the space. One metaverse to rule them all. It’s been teased for a long time but it’s finally coming this saturday.

Otherdeeds ( Deeds for the land) are coming.

NFT “Dutch auctions” are actually bullshit. They do not successfully mediate demand, nor do they really negate gas wars in highly-anticipated mints.

This is especially problematic when you consider that the Otherdeed mint may be one of the largest scale, high-demand NFT mints ever. All the usual problems with NFT gas wars would be exacerbated by the sheer number of NFTs to be minted, which could result in a gas war of historic proportions.

So actually, fuck doing a Dutch auction.

 

Otherside Requirements:

The mechanics of this drop is shaping to really encourage very strong secondary price appreciation post launch. The Yuga Labs team prioritizing this makes a ton of sense — another 100k land is dropping in a few months and it would be much easier for them to reason charging more in the next sale if the existing floor of land is higher.

The key consideration for a lot of collectors is going to be the Kodas.  The theorycrafting around these NFTS is insane, but the most popular theory at this time is that each piece of land will have ~10% chance of receiving a Koda (10,000 kodas / 100,000 parcels of land). If you consider the value and floor of other YL NFTs and place the Kodas slightly below the Mutants they would still command a 15-20 ETH floor.

Each mint of land seems to use 200k+ gas. If we assume 15 second blocks (which they’ll likely be longer when gas spikes), we can expect the release to last 350+ blocks, or 1.5+ hrs.
