NFTCulture’s Pro Bono Role in “Can Art Change the War?”
At NFT Culture, we are proud to have played a crucial role in the success of the “Can Art Change the War?” project by providing pro bono support in contract development and other essential aspects. This initiative, spearheaded by the artist JR, captured the hearts of many as it leveraged the power of NFTs to provide much-needed aid to tens of thousands of Ukrainian families during a time of crisis.
We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of our CTO, Michael, who has been a visionary in the NFT space. All smart contract development for the project was the brainchild of Michael, whose expertise and dedication helped bring the project to fruition. We also want to extend our gratitude to James from Digital Practice for the amazing partnership and thought leadership in onboarding traditional artists into the web3 ecosystem. Their combined efforts have been instrumental in the success of the “Can Art Change the War?” project.

With our expertise in NFTs and contract development, NFT Culture was able to help facilitate the smooth implementation of the project, ensuring that the funds raised through the NFT sales were directed towards those in need. Our pro bono assistance was instrumental in maximizing the impact of the initiative, showcasing the power of collaboration and the positive contributions that the NFT community can make to important social issues.
One of the key highlights of the “Can Art Change the War?” project was the delivery of 25 tons of goods, including non-perishable food, hygiene products, and blankets, to the Ukrainian border, Lviv, and Kiev. These essential supplies provided much-needed relief to over 100,000 Ukrainian families during the crisis.
Another important aspect of the project was the improvement of access to safe drinking water for more than 6 million Ukrainians. With infrastructure in the region severely damaged, clean drinking water had become a luxury for many. The project team dispatched twenty vehicles equipped with water filtration systems, capable of producing 100,000 M3 of potable water each day. These vehicles primarily served communities in war-torn areas, providing a vital lifeline for the affected population.
Following the release of the NFTs, a dedicated team was formed. With the help of partners on the ground in Ukraine, the team was able to evaluate the population’s needs and deliver fast and relevant aid. Between March and June 2022, ten trucks drove from Paris, France to Medyka at the Polish border. There, a team responsible for dispatching the shipments in Ukraine took over.
In addition to addressing basic needs, the “Can Art Change the War?” project also focused on the long-term well-being of Ukrainian refugees. By collaborating with Italian volunteer organizations IRIS and Onuka, the project facilitated education and community-building programs for refugees transitioning into Tuscan society. These programs included language courses, professional development trainings, cultural activities, and a summer camp for children. By participating in these initiatives, refugees were able to establish a sense of belonging and community, easing the burden of adapting to a new environment.
Recognizing the importance of supporting the arts during turbulent times, the project also sought to promote Ukrainian artists both at home and abroad. This was achieved by organizing concerts in France and partnering with the European Podcast Tour organized by DFT Magazine. This mobile podcast and gallery toured Europe, providing a platform for Ukrainian artists dispersed around the continent to share their voices and creative works.
NFT Culture is honored to have contributed pro bono support to the “Can Art Change the War?” project. Our expertise in contract development and the NFT space helped ensure the success of this initiative, which has had a profound impact on the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian families. This collaboration serves as a powerful testament to the potential for NFTs and the broader community to bring about positive change in the face of adversity.
We cannot express enough gratitude to JR, an incredible artist who used his talent to bring attention to the plight of Ukrainian refugees and create tangible, positive change in their lives. JR’s dedication to using his art as a force for good is truly inspiring, and we at NFT Culture feel immensely privileged to have been a small participant in this remarkable project. Our collaboration with JR, Michael, James, and all the dedicated partners has demonstrated how the fusion of creativity, technology, and compassion can bring joy and hope to the world in times of need.
