First BAYC Sales on MakersPlace’s Verified 3rd Party NFT MarketPlace

SAN FRANCISCO, February 1, 2021 – Two Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs have sold on MakersPlace, following the recent rollout of MakersPlace’s verified third party NFT marketplace: Bored Ape, #4051 for 84 ETH (~$219,882.60) and Mutant Ape #8070 for 18 ETH (~$50,236.20)

These sales mark the first BAYC secondary sales on MakersPlace since the company announced the expansion of its trusted marketplace, which allows users to purchase verified 3rd party NFTs like Bored Ape Yacht Club, Pak and many more with an industry-leading commission fee of 0.5%.  Since facilitating the sale of Beeple’s EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 Days for $69M in participation with Christie’s auction house, MakersPlace has continued to rapidly expand its offering of authentic and quality NFTs, recently partnering with Shakira and Baby Shark.  It now extends its industry leading authentication and curatorial methods to assure collectors of the authenticity of popular 3rd party NFTs.

This announcement follows MakersPlace’s smart contract upgrade which reduced transactional ETH gas fees up to 60%, setting a new industry standard across NFT platforms. With the expansion of its authentic and curated NFT offerings, MakersPlace reinforces itself as not only a trusted market, but a leader in fees. The platform has also introduced a number of interface updates aimed at improving the buying and selling experience for creators and collectors.

Initial verified 3rd party NFTs include: Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Art Blocks, Pak’s, LostPoets, Damien Hirst’s, The Currency, Larva Lab’s, Autoglyphs, with more to be added soon.

Dannie Chu, co-founder and CEO of MakersPlace, says: “We are extremely excited to introduce our support for verified 3rd party NFTs as it sets a new industry standard in terms of the discoverability of quality and authentic NFTs, in a sea of misattribution and fraud. This endeavor allows us to amplify our mission of enabling a vibrant future for digital creativity by empowering only trusted and verified NFT projects.  I’m equally excited about all the improvements to the buying and selling experience, along with our industry-leading commission rates for 3rd-party NFTs.  We strive to offer the best experience in terms of trust, authenticity and quality for artists and collectors alike, bringing forth a much needed sense of safety to the NFT community.

About MakersPlace

MakersPlace is the premier NFT marketplace for digital art. Launched in 2018, MakersPlace utilizes blockchain technology to facilitate the sale of authentic, original digital artwork, ensuring rarity and ownership for both creators and collectors. MakersPlace has emphasized accessibility since its inception, and has attracted a large mainstream audience as the first NFT marketplace to accept both cryptocurrency (ETH) and non-cryptocurrency (USD) payments, which it facilitates through crypto wallet and credit card transactions, respectively. MakersPlace helped catapult digital art and NFTs onto the global stage, with the historic sale of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days for $69.3 million in partnership with Christie’s auction house in March 2021 – the record price for any digital artwork. Our mission is simple: to enable a vibrant future for digital creativity.
