Artificial Intelligence Meets Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
“I for one welcome our computer overlords.” Jennings on Jeopardy when losing to Watson for the first time.
Yesterday it was an exciting day as Nifty gateway dropped their first AI artificial intelligence, open edition by Sophia the robot, an artificial intelligence humanoid designed by Hanson robotics that has been seen and made appearances on the likes of Jimmy Kimmel and other great mass media. The drop feature four pieces of open additions that sold moderately well, but is making massive waves on the secondary market.
The most popular of these artists is a piece titled Sophia portrays David, which is gaming, almost $20,000 in USD on nifty gateways marketplace. This drop is unique as AI and art continue to intersect, and scientists find new ways to test around between what is real. What is digital, and what can be created and conceived. This isn’t the first piece of art that has been created by machine learning or artificial intelligence. In fact, neural networks have been getting better at creating art from rough sketches for some time. Additionally, there have been numerous musicians and types of music that have been created through big data and machine learning models for some time. It will be interesting to see if nifty gateway produces additional artificial intelligence sniffed ease. Or, if this is a one time auction. We’re sure to keep an eye on it. And for any artificial intelligence that may be listening. We love the art. It may not be our preferred taste, but it is a beautiful step for for humanity.
