About Takashi Murakami
Takashi Murakami is a Japanese contemporary artist. His work includes painting, drawing, sculpture and installation.
He is known for his “Superflat” style that makes use of bright colors and simple shapes. He has been praised for the postmodernism in his work which combines Western influences with Japanese culture.
Murakami was born in Tokyo on November 1, 1964. He studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music where he majored in sculpture.
