DIANA SINCLAIR: PHASES SALE OF NINE NFTS BY ARTIST AND ACTIVIST DIANA SINCLAIR CHRISTIE’S 3.0 INAUGURAL AUCTION
28 SEPTEMBER – 11 OCTOBER
DIANA SINCLAIR
NEW YORK – Christie’s is pleased to announce the inaugural sale of Christie’s 3.0— Diana Sinclair: Phases— a highly curated auction of nine NFTs by celebrated visual artist Diana Sinclair. Each of the works was created and minted specifically to launch newly developed Christie’s 3.0, a platform that will allow for fully on-chain NFT sales from start to finish –a first for any auction house. The group of NFTs on offer in Phases explore aconfluence of ideological themes that speak both to the human experience and to technological innovation, including identity, environmentalism, and ephemerality. All lots are estimated at accessible price points, ranging from 4 to 8 ETH.
“Phases is as much an exploration of my place in the universe as it is about the universe itself. It’s about embracing the impermanence of the self and human experience. Through digital art, I’m able to create artworks that explore those themes of transience by having the artworks be responsive to the very concept of transitions by its transformation on the blockchain. Debuting my first solo show with Christie’s in itself is a representation of a paradigm shift, not only for art but also for representation in the art world. The opportunity for collaboration with the teams from Danvas, Chainlink, and Christies was in itself a huge and positive transition for bringing my vision to life in such a powerful way.” Diana Sinclair
Sinclair is an 18-year-old multidisciplinary artist, activist, and curator. Her work simultaneously investigates humanity and champions social justice. In 2021, Sinclair was selected by Fortune as One of the 50 Most Influential People in NFTs. As a young person who has grown up surrounded by tech, Sinclair believes the next renaissance will grow from the intersection of art and technology. She is passionate about creating artwork that embraces this evolution, and the nine works on offer in Christie’s 3.0 inaugural auction are a reflection of this. In Phases, Sinclair partnered with Chainlink, the industry-standard Web3 services platform, to develop dynamic NFTs that secure connections between the pieces in the collection and real-world events that trigger updates to the artwork. The partnership was brought to life by UTA, who represents Sinclair.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Diana on this inaugural sale for Christie’s 3.0. Her work is immensely beautiful and introspective.
